Logging in to #routourage this morning I was told: -irc.afternet.org- *** Looking up your hostname So who the hell is Rubin and why am I G-lined? And what the hell does G-lined mean? |

G-lined means your link was globally banned. Sometimes this is temporary. Rubin runs AfterNET. I'm guessing that the automated ident checks failed to recognize your host, so it thinks you're a bot or zombie or something. Are you going through a CGI proxy? Have you tried the Java client? I unfortunately don't have control over this system, so I can't do much more diagnosis. Maybe I should start looking at something else besides IRC? |

When I get bored, I log in to #rontourage and chat with myself. Never have seen anyone else there. |

The Java client doesn't work for me. Red X appears in the Java window, "Caused by: java.io.IOException: open HTTP connection failed." mIRC is blocked as well, so I go with the cgi:irc thingy. Except for now when I can't.

Not that anyone cares, but 'Rubin' was a tad upset that I was not sending an 'auth' command whenever I would log in; he/she/it presumed I was a spambot or a destructive virus or a democrat or something. I am now authed and allowed back in; so anyone can stop by M-F, 9 am to 4 pm Central time, and I should be there. Try to contain your excitement. |

I used to try and show up, but that port is now blocked at work, and HarryCaray is having issues. I'm considering abandoning #ieatpaint for the same reason. |

I was on earlier. It was fun and exciting. Might even do it again. |
