I think the 'ropes' was more to do with clown bondage than rodeos.

I think that's what makes this comic so great. To assess the rodeo clown theory, Man asks the clown about ropes, which seems innocent but we know better. It's this faux pas that makes the comic. It's also been well established that the clown is a sex offender and overall pervert, which makes the rope question even more inappropriate in our minds.

On another note, why the hell am I analyzing the comics?

Well, the last frame was there when I put in the 2nd frame and I saw the obvious bondage potential, but figured it woudl be funnier if we went along the lines that the guy was supposed to ask the clown something completely innoscent but had no clue at all how to phrase it correctly.
