The clever ploy will only work if you post more than other people because your position is calculated based on total messages.

So if your posts start converations then the ratio of your messages to total messages will actually decrease.

Which will then cause you to go down the periodic table.

So... Increasing one's own post count not only lowers one's own atomic number, but can raise the atomic number of others?

(Presuming that "down" in the periodic table directs toward those rarer elements with high atomic numbers.)

However, I am avoiding blatantly spamming. I want to keep everything I have to initially say in one post. It's much easier on the eyes of anyone who chooses to read the thread. I know it would be ridiculously easy to up my rating by giving one word posts but that's just cheating.

Um.. I'm not sure that that's true (Ron could correct me). I've been slowly working my way up the elements without any extra spamming, and haven't experienced any decreases. I usually go up one about every 5-7 posts.

Maybe I'm just passing people? Are there really 100+ people posting?

Because seriously - I only see like 10 people tops.

It's based on the percentage of posts you've made. If someone surpassed me in number of message posts, then they would be hydrogen and I would not.

So... Multiple people cannot be the same element?

If I reached just_human's post number, I would become Berkelium and he would no longer be that element?

Or are you 'setting the curve' with your 600+ posts?

Ron is setting the curve with his buku posts, you can have more than one person at any element, just look at the number of people were ununhexium for a while.. no one is helium because I'm in second place in posts and I'm only up to Iodine... its all ratio. I guess the best way to put it is if you make posts more frequently than Ron, you should go up the list. If he beats you out, you go back down.

Oh yeah, and I can't believe that a zoo with an event planned for kids with an expected huge turnout wouldn't think about putting port-a-potties outside. I mean, do the math... lots of little kids + long lines = Mommy I gotta go POTTIE!!!! x 2000

So about the posts is there anything that comics have to do with your rank at all? Anyways what does it matter if people are posting just to get a rank it does increase the amount of material on the site. While it may be worthless material it is still material all the same so it makes things more interesting. Hmm wonder if that would work on GeekyTeen.

If you want to read some pompous, ego stroking posts there's always fark.com. I felt like saying something like Bombjoy's rant but always remind myself that only dumbasses talk on those forums and if I ever post on them for any reason whatsoever, I would join the ranks of which I mock.

I think it works fine, I mean, it doesnt really take many posts for people to get outta the "unnamed" elements.. and it gives people more insentive to post! Unless you're Ron's wife.

I guess but my point is that I have about 1 tenth the posts ron does and im still down at like 102. Just doesnt seem to be evenly spaced is all.

Well, if you consider that each rank represents 0.862% of Ron's total posts (100/116), and your percentage of posts vs Rons is roughly 10.04% (63/627) you should be right between ranks 11 and 12 (9.48% and 10.34%) which is why you're rank 11 (Dubnium, or 11 places above Ununhexium). So you're right where you should be.
