This is what I have so far...

The game will be turn based. The ideas I have don't allow for a very easy real-time system. However, each player will take their turns simultaneously. The players will give their pieces commands and the command will not be performed until everyone ends their turn.

The game will be like Blood Bowl (battle football) or maybe a capture-the-flag type thing. I'm leaning more toward the football thing. I would also like to have more than two teams playing at once. I think it would make things more interesting.

Each player can have a team. The team members, equipment, etc. cost money. If the money runs out, the team members leave the team, so it would be important to keep playing games to win more money. Players can trade members and equipment amongst themselves, but a member will not leave a team unless he is not getting paid.

For a multiplayer type of football, I was thinking of a circular arena. The ball starts in the middle and all teams start on the outside. Then each team rushes to get the ball and bring it back to their area on the outside of the circle. If the arena is large enough, there could be many teams playing at once. There wouldn't be any downs, just all-out beating the hell out of each other while trying to score.

This is how the game play would work. Each team character will have a certain number of movement points and a movement counter. Everyone's counter starts at 0. When a character's counter is at 0, they can be given a command that turn. After each turn, all character's counters are incremented. If the counter exceeds the difference between the character's movement points and some "max movement" number, then the counter is reset to 0. A command can be "move forward" or "attack" or "throw the ball" etc. This has two advantages: The characters will move at different speeds, reflecting the movement accurately, and the game itself can be saved and played back at a later time for your viewing enjoyment.

That's all I have so far. Any questions or ideas are more than welcome.

Well hurry up. It is many years later and I have yet to see this football game fathom.
