You have "peeps" in Iowa?

They let us out of work early, as it was getting BAD. The main east-west interstate through the state was shut down, save for the stretch between Des Moines and Iowa City, and the main north-south interstate was shut down from just north of Des Moines all the way up to the Minnesota border.

But, yeah, present, accounted for, and with power, heat, and internet. I just got home, and if the roads are any indication, unless we get some new major blizzard tonight, it'll be life as normal tomorrow. It took me about 5 tries to get my car up my driveway, but once the landlord plows, that should be fine.

Whoa, a person from Iowa. Neat!

I've been down that stretch of 80 in the summer. Sure is a lot of corn growing around it.

Urban Language 101: Did you know the term 'steal' is to punch someone in the face? So if an uppity urbanite threatens to 'steal you' he actually is not threatening to remove you from a store shelf, stick you inside his coat, and tip toe out of Wal-Mart, he is actually threatening violence.

Tomorrow's lesson, what it means when they threaten to 'cook' you.

Huh? And after I finally figured out what "break yo'seff" means.

If this is what urban culture creates... viva la sprawl!

Another shining point of light: a teacher was assaulted by a student in this school. The student jumped on her, knocking her to the floor, and sat atop of her and started fist flailing. A few students tried to intervien to help the teacher, but most of the class sat in their seats and laughed at how 'funny' it was.

My guess is all the trees that were going to fall (and pull power lines with them) fell with last week's storm, so I'm not worried about losing power this weekend.

Dude... your school is insane.

You sure its "steal" and not "steel" cause, as absurd as they are, would make more sense. Like.. hitting someone with a steel fist.

i live in northern des moines, saylorville in an apartment complex. finishing up at dmacc for linux network administration, though the main focus on the linux side has been on programming. I graduate in may no clue what im doing afterwards but i could use a job for sure :D

I'm up in Saylorville periodically. If you're not anxious to get out of Des Moines once you graduate, we'd probably be looking for both developers and sysadmins. Our dev side is largely ColdFusion, but it's being weaned out in favor of C#, and our sysadmin side is moving towards Blade stuff. Not being a sysadmin, I'm a little fuzzy beyond that.

i dont really know anything about coldfusion or C# but id be willing to learn, my focus is more on the network performance, and maintence however.

No i dont plan on moving back home after I graduate, the only company that I could fore see working at would be Team Quest in Clear Lake. To say i dislike them would be an understatement. So do you want candy or are you more mature than that?

I think it would be cooler if you worked for WMD instead of WDM.
