Never go to guitar center for your strings. They convinced me into buying something like 18 sets. I haven't broken a damn string since and its been over a year.

I wouldn't blame Guitar Center for that one. Also, I never buy more than two sets of strings. It's not like I need to keep them in my fallout shelter in case the Commies or the Y2K decide they want to blow us to smithereens. I mean, they're not mandolin strings for cryin' out loud!

i usually buy 3 sets, but then, we play shows and i do break string occassionally at practice or shows, and i always like to have at least one of each string on hand at all times.

that said, i RARELY change an entire set of strings at once. usually on a break-by-break basis.
