I'd be careful about being militant with teeth brushing. I'm a horrible brusher, but only have had two cavities on adult teeth - and one was in a wisdom tooth that was being pulled for space. I know other equally bad brushers with great teeth (albeit maybe not the whitest). I also know at least two decent brushers (one fanatically so) who are prone to cavities.

I'm really to the point where I believe early exposure to floride in the water has more to do with healthy teeth than brushing. Perhaps this is a warning sign that you should move before her teeth are weak for life.

Quick question - did you grow up drinking the same water that you're drinking now? Or did you move there?

I read an article that goes along with that not too long ago. It was saying that the number of cavities in kids is on the rise because more are drinking bottled water instead of tap water, supporting the whole floride thing.

Also, why do you know so much about other people's brushing habits, just_human?

Two words: Electric Toothbrush.

I grew up somewhere else, so she has different water exposure. Also, about 25% of bottled water is from a municipal source. Do they filter that to remove flourides? Not sure. I do know that my teeth are full of metal, and I don't wish that fate on my kids. Of course, I didn't brush much when I was younger.

The last I knew, the process they used for filtering bottled water did end up removing the floride.. or at least most of it.

Mostly due to conversations like this.
