DJ's spinning vinyl, real vinyl is still prominent. It is a sub culture mind you but they exist in a multitude to be noticed.

This is the first one I've seen since 1987. And you know that the central Michigan area is the birthplace of the CD. The heart of the digital revolution was absolutely throbbing in that place.

I don't doubt that vinyl is still in much use, I'm just wondering what this particular DJ's motivation is. People that aren't on the bandwagon usually have an interesting reason. And I like that.

Oh that one is easy. I'm sure you are aware of information loss when going from analog to digital. Most DJ's that use that argument to say that vinyl just plain sounds better. Along with that most of them that use vinyl hold out that it just "feels" better. What I find interesting is outside of wedding I have not seen a cd DJ in a very long time ,mind you 9 years is a long time to me.

I'd say it's for the novelty & nostalgia. Most DJ sound equipment sounds like ass anyway, so vinyl's supposed "quality" seems pretty moot anyway.

Alternately, he may have just been too cheap to upgrade.
