I like the drop down effect, but most of those are JavaScript dependent. Some other things I've seen have been to take the most popular links and place them along the bottom of the header from right to left or left to right and leave the left menu for more page or function specific links. The three column approach is tough because the process to decide which links go where is often arduous.

I can make a nice drop down, either horizontal or vertical, that's cross browser and only requires Javascript for IE. So maybe a vertical nav bar on the left? I really don't want to compromise the space that I currently have for the content, so I'd like to avoid the three-column approach.

<sarcasm> I think that a midi file would be awesome, just make sure it is short and loops. Oh, and make sure that you change the background to a series of small, tiled, moving gifs. And in addition to the menu following your cursor, you should add a clock and some hearts too. And I really think that the general color scheme could use a shift to more pinks and yellows. In fact, the menu is just too easy to read with the black text on white background, make it something cuter like "daffodil" and "slightly-lighter-than-daffodil." </sarcasm>

Actually, I do like the current users menu. That's pretty cool.

Of course you like the current user menu. Every time you see it, you're the current user. Who wouldn't like that?

I have yet to see another user on at the same time as me. Except for when I was testing it.
