In Soviet Russia, Yakov Smirnoff paraphrases you!

TiVo, that's sweet. Now you can record the good adult swim cartoons and watch them at a reasonable hour.

ah, tivo. i want one. i was watching a show (comedy central's 'stella', which i really recommend. if you're me. if you're not me, you may not like it) at my friend's house, though, and the recording quality looked pretty bad, but i think he had his tivo set to the longest possible amount of time you could record, so the quality is obviously reduced.

my question, senator, is this -- what have you noticed about recording quality thusfar?

If you set it to "high" quality, it looks fine. I wouldn't say it's indistinguishable from actual television, but it's close enough. Obviously if you use that quality, though, you can record less of it, so use high for the stuff that needs the extra definition and a lower quality for the news and scrambled porn channels.

I think TiVo has infected your daughter's brain and has somehow changed "Dad" to "Steve-o" cause it rhymes with TiVo.

So how cheap was cheap? I figured you'd have put together an OSS-based PVR.
