Ultimate and shutdowns

This weekend I had the pleasure of participating in an ultimate frisbee tournament at the University of Miami of Ohio. For those who don't know ultimate frisbee, in short it is soccer with a frisbee. The sport combines many aspects of many games into one. Ultimate is becoming the fastest growing sport in the world.

I play for CMU. Not Carnegie-Mellon, but Central Michigan University. This is only the second year of competitive play for the school, and I've have been on the team for both years. I'm not saying I'm the best player, or even a good one, but this weekend was fun. Overall, we placed 9th out of 14 teams. The feeling was relaxed and at times, too relaxed. One of our players (I'll call him Grant because that's his name) had the audacity to get high during some of our games. I couldn't believe it. How could he think of smoking weed while playing a hippie sport? Well, I was around him enough while he was doing this that led both of us trying to plant seedless oranges so that next year the hosting team won't have to bring oranges.

This leads up to the shutdown. Miami of Ohio surprisingly has many, many attractive ladies. While coming back from Wendy's for lunch, we decided that someone should talk to one of these ladies that seemed to be standing alone waiting for something. We sent Conrad, a freakishly tall freshman. Just as he was about to say something to her, a car drove up and another girl yelled out to the first to ask if she wanted a ride. Conrad had no choice but to keep walking and look like an idiot. All too often the timing of some bimbo can throw the whole world off.

Stay tuned for more updates about frisbee tournaments, if I ever feel like writing again.
