Not an actual brain. For entertainment purposes only.
The first of this week's updates.

Who won the SuperBowl? I have no idea. I spent the day shoveling, helping around the house, watching Spirited Away and The Family Guy, getting online, writing a crappy news update on my personal site, etc. It was a good weekend. There's a bit of snow on the ground now, so it seems like February. I was getting annoyed at all the birds and the squirrels that were flying and squirreling about. Of course, most of them have possibly froze to death now. The weather is a cruel thing. Cruel indeed.

I spent some time making a scrollable, selectable hex grid done entirely in Javascript. I'm thinking that I'm going to go with a game map type of concept for Connection, rather than making it possible for any node to connect to any other node. This will allow for more interesting strategies involving supply lines, managing area, building defenses, etc. Not sure how I'm going to handle joining a game, though. I was thinking about expanding the map depending on how many people join, that way new joiners will be on the "unexplored" area and will give them a chance to play. I could also limit the number of players, or even wait to begin a game until enough people join. Not sure what approach I'm going to use here.

I also spent some time fixing up my rating test page so that it documents how it all works. AJAX based rating system test page.. Technically not AJAX, since I'm not using XML in any of the bits of communication, but hey, whatever. I'm not really a big fan of the term myself, and everyone is making a big deal about something that's been possible for a while, but I guess everything old is new again.

I was using AJAX to send data to the web server but I got a 409 error. HA!

That's all I got for tonight. Looking for suggestions on how I can improve the user interface for the Group Comics, so if you have any thoughts, contact me or post a comment to this item.
