I took Brianna to her first movie today. We went and saw Barnyard at a matinee. I didn't tell her that she was going to see a movie, though. I instead told her that we were going to go do something and she would have to sit still for a very long time. She was curious but nervous about the whole ordeal. When we got to the theater and bought popcorn and drinks, she started putting the pieces together, but, having never been at the theater before, she couldn't really anticipate what we were doing next. We went to screen twelve and she asked "What is this place?" I told her it was the theater, and she should choose a place to sit. Of course, she wanted to sit in the very front row. Having had some experience with this whole movie-going thing, I recommended we sit back a few rows. The incredible attendence of six made it tricky to find a seat, but we were lucky enough to get something right in the middle of the theater.

She was asking a bunch of questions about the ads playing over the sound system and about why it was so dark and other things, when everything went silent. The curtains moved the pointless two meters that they do and the previews started. She was mesmerized by the whole thing. After the first preview ended, everything went silent and black. Then, at that moment, Brianna looked at me with wide eyes and said "Daddy. That... movie... was... AWESOME!" I couldn't help but laugh.

We ate a bunch of popcorn, drank down the sodas, and had a good time watching the movie. I figured she was getting to be the right age to start doing things like this, and I was right, as she was pretty well behaved and enjoyed it a lot. I look forward to the next date with her.
