Hi all. Ron here. I'd like to thank everyone that had been testing the chat thingy. I'm still working on the bugs, so don't be surprised if it renders oddly or doesn't quite work for you.
Today is Brianna's birthday. It's also Earth Day. How did we celebrate Earth Day and Brianna's birthday at the same time? We drove our petroleum dependent vehicle to the Detroit Zoo, that's how!
We had a great time at the zoo. Brianna's picture taking is getting a little better, though she had a habit of stopping right in the middle of heavy foot traffic to snap a shot. Once I transfer them from the camera I'll add them to her gallery.
I was able to hear a bald eagle make an odd noise. I always imagined that an eagle only made the awesome "screech" sound depicted in most audio recordings, but, and I know this is going to sound dumb, these eagles sounded like birds chirping. It was complete confusion in the part of my brain that coordinates audio and visual cues. I wish I had a camcorder at the time. I would have shared.
Something else was going down at the zoo. We saw two cop cars sitting off to the side, lights flashing, and heard another emergency vehicle approaching quickly. Zoo attendants were asking everyone to clear the main walkway. Then the police cars sped out into the "employees only" section, never to be seen again. I have no idea what was going on. I hope they would have told us if the lion or Rancor had escaped. It was a little odd.
Yesterday we had Brianna's birthday party, and it was a lot of fun. The weather was absolutely gorgeous (finally) and the food was great. Brianna didn't get many toys, which is actually a good thing. She has so much crap that we end up bagging a lot of it and giving it away or selling it in a garage sale. She seems very happy with her gifts (mainly toy jewelery and clothes) and I'm glad we didn't have another heap of toys to throw in the junk pile.
