First, congratulations to Rich and Kate on the birth of their son David Richard Riddle. I hope he brings as much joy to you as my children have brought to me.

So Brianna had her science fair. We ended up just building the six simple machines and leaving it at that, since the Rube Goldberg machine required more attention than she could spare. The science fair was odd. Kids weren't required to stand by their projects or anything, so it was basically just a bunch of adults roaming about aimlessly pretending to appreciate the exhibits. Everyone got a ribbon for participation, which is a concept that still confuses me.

A while after the fair we were at NetGoddess' house and she had a pinata that the kids could destroy. I threw the rope over a beam in their basement and pulled the pinata up, and Brianna said "That's a pulley." I was the proud father at that moment.

Sarah went to Florida to visit her folks for a few days, so I was on dad duty. It all went well and I had fun with the kids.

I've been trying some trickier origami. Want to see?

How's it going with you?
