Sorry I haven't updated. My other hobby of woodworking has consumed most of my free time. I have some images if you're interested:
That's a small bow saw or perhaps a coping saw. Not sure how you classify it. It's used to cut around curves. I'm dissatisfied with the tenons I cut in the cross piece and I should use something other than the cheap threaded rod at Lowe's for the blade mounts. Works like a champ, though.
That's a router plane. It's used to put a uniform depth to the bottom of a groove or dado, among other things. The cutter is an Allen wrench that has a bevel ground into it. I need to redo the cutter. I took off too much metal. I'm pleased with the grip and am able to get a uniform depth on a surface without much effort.
There are several things I'd like to build that involve small pieces of wood. They would benefit from parts that had a uniform depth, so I built this smaller router plane to allow me to do that. I'm very satisfied with the cutter on this one. I'm not satisfied that I did not get the mounting hole in the thumb screw anywhere near the center. Oh well.
This is an inkle loom that Sarah asked me to build for her. The only power tool I used was the drill press. Everything else was done with hand tools. Not sure if that's brag-worthy, but it was an excellent project for honing my hand tool skills. Lots of errors, but all I can do is look at them and learn from the mistakes.
The fourth was nice. We hung out, grilled, made s'mores, lit off cheap fireworks, etc. You?
Going on vacation soon. Josh is getting married. We're going to the wedding (hell, almost all of us are in the wedding), and then we're going camping for a few days. Should be fun. I'll have plenty of photos.
You build anything lately? Getting married? Get an urge to make a super sparkler? Let us know.
